RIHANNA SUES HER FATHER FOR MISUSE OF THE FENTY TRADEMARK

American hip hop music star and fashion entrepreneur, Robyn Rihanna Fenty professionally known as Rihanna has filed a lawsuit in the US federal court in Los Angeles against her father Ronald Fenty for false designation of origin, false advertising, invasion of her rights of privacy and publicity, and other claims against him.
Rihanna’s father Mr. Ronald Fenty and his business partner Mr. Moses Joktan Perkins established a company called ‘’Fenty Entertainment’’ and Rihanna alleged that her father and his partner have been using her name to deceive investors about her involvement in the business. In one instance, Fenty Entertainment accepted a 2017 offer by a third party for Rihanna to perform at 15 shows in Latin America for $15 million.
Rihanna filed a lawsuit against her father and his partner, through her attorney Carla Wirtscharfter and it state that: ‘’ Mr. Fenty and Mr. Perkins have used this lies in a fraudulent effort to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties in exchange for the false promise that they were authorized to act on Rihanna’s behalf, and/or that Rihanna would perform at various locations throughout the world. Simply put, Mr. Fenty and Mr. Perkins and the company are not presently, nor have they ever been authorized to exploit Rihanna’s name, her intellectual property or the goodwill associated with her well known ‘’Fenty’’ brand, or to solicit any business on her behalf.’’
It was learnt that Rihanna’s had asked Mr. Fenty and Mr. Perkins on several occasions to stop involving her name, but they have ignored her warnings.
